Javi Lliso was born and raised in the snowy mountains, his mother was a ski instructor at the Sierra Nevada ski resort and his older brothers loved to jump in the snow. At the age of 17 he became a Spanish champion and joined the national team; freeskiing went from being a hobby to a profession.
With only 21 years old, he climbed to the podium in the Grandvalira Total Fight 2019, fighting among the best freeskiers of the world, and in the season 18/19 he had already climbed twice among the 20 best skiers of the FIS World Cup.
A progression without limits that he achieves with great maturity. The path is marked out and… Javi wants to go far!
Historical 4th place of freeskier Javi Lliso in the FIS Slopestyle World Cup in Seiser Alm (Italy)
Javi Lliso, the freeskier from Madrid of the RAW Superdrink Team, has lived one of the best days of his life when he got 4th in a very disputed slopestyle FIS World Cup in the snowpark of the Italian resort of Seiser Alm (Italy).
Two rounds of very high level for the Madrid skier trained in the ski resort of Aramon Cerler have earned him a place among the best of the day. In the first round he scored a score of 80.73 which has already placed him in 4th position, only surpassed by three great names in freeski. In the second round, Lliso even improved his score with some tricks to the limit and getting 85.03 points that gave him real options for the podium.
Finally, the winner was the Norwegian Birk Ruud who had not stood out in his first round but in the second he set the bar very high, getting 92.91 points. Second place went to Switzerland’s Fabian Boesch with two rounds of almost identical scoring, bordering on cum laude in both, with the best score at 89.78. The third place on the podium was taken by American Colby Stevenson with 88.08 points.
Lliso, very excited, said that “I am very happy with the first World Cup final and get to the 4th position, just being in this final with the level that there is already was incredible and this final … I can’t believe it! I love the Seiser Alm snowpark, with a perfectly prepared slopestyle, although it’s never easy.”
The next competition for Javi Lliso will be at Mamouth Mountain (USA) with another World Cup slopestyle, on February 1st.
