Sweat is the main culprit behind the loss of fluids in the cyclist's body, and athletes often underestimate the amount of fluid they lose during intense sessions. This insufficient fluid replacement can lead to a vicious cycle that affects their performance and health.

Poor hydration can negatively impact a professional cyclist's performance in various ways:

  • Premature Fatigue: Water deficiency reduces the amount of blood in the body, leading to a decreased supply of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. As a result, the cyclist experiences fatigue earlier in the session, reducing their endurance and responsiveness.
